Stocked in curly maple, trimmed in brass, this attractive swivel breech flint pistol has tapered octagon-to-round 8-3/4" barrels. The barrels and locks are finished chocolate brown, with a reddish "plum" brown undertone. The pistol is trimmed in brass furniture with grotesque mask buttcap. This pistol is signed by the late Leonard Day.

The two .50 caliber barrels have a octagon-to-round profile. Each barrel is 8-3/4" length and both bores are cut rifled with six narrow lands and wide grooves with a slow twist for a tightly patched round ball. The bores have been well maintained and are bright and clean. The barrels are fitted with a nickel silver blade front sight soldered just behind the muzzle. A flat top rear sight is dovetailed 1-1/2" ahead of the action.

The pistol is stocked in maple stained to a dark brown with golden undertones to best display the figure over the length of the grip and forearm. This pistol is used and has a few minor handling marks. The ramrod lies in a side panel along one side of the barrels. The ramrod pipe skirt is neatly accented with hand engraving. The ramrod is tapered and has a brass tip with no threads for loading or cleaning accessories.

Ignition is reliable with this unique back action swivel breech flintlock, made and signed by the late Leonard Day. The single trigger has a smooth release. The forward lever is to release the barrel from the locked position. Put the pistol at half cock, push the lever forward and the barrel can be swiveled until the new barrel locks in place. The barrels can be turned slightly in each position. This action does have some play currently. Internally there is a adjustment nut to tighten the action.

Used, with some handling marks this flintlock swivel breech pistol has bright clean bores. The .50 caliber barrels give this pistol a modest weight, with the benefit of a quick second shot.
