This attractive Kentucky pistol has a large grip, angled enough to provide perfect sight alignment, while it feels good in your hand. Manufactured by Davide Pedersoli & Company of Italy. The pistol is as-new with the factory box. The frizzen only has a few strikes on it from testing. Stocked in curly maple, the stock has scattered figure from muzzle to butt. This pistol weighs 2.6 pounds.
The 10-3/8" barrel is 15/16" octagon, .54 caliber and cut rifled with a twist appropriate for shooting patched round ball. The bore is bright and is ready to shoot. The barrel browning appears to be as new. The left oblique flat is stamped with all of the factory information and warnings. The blued steel front sight is dovetailed 1" behind the muzzle. A flat top rear sight is dovetailed 2-1/4" ahead of the breech.
The maple stock is finished to a medium brown with gloss sheen. The stock does not show any handling marks. The brass triggerguard is nicely polished. Two brass rod pipes retain the ramrod. Octagon flats on each pipe echo the octagon theme of the barrel. Ring moldings surround the tiny octagon portion of the pipes. The steel muzzle cap is only about half the length of a longrifle muzzle cap, and looks correct on this nice 1830 vintage flintlock pistol. The ramrod is fitted with a brass tip threaded to accept 10-32 cleaning and loading accessories. The brass sideplate is inlet flush with the stock. Two lock bolts pass through to engage the lock on the opposite side.
The flint lock is finished bright. We recommend our 5/8" knapped English flint, #FLINT-ENG-5 for bes performance in this lock. Notice the attractive curled trigger, pinned high for best leverage. This trigger has a smooth easy release. The slotted stainless steel vent liner is positioned a bit forward of the center of the pan.
