This Thompson Center Renegade .50 caliber percussion rifle would make a handy hunting rifle. The American black walnut stock and blue finish have some scattered handling marks. The rifle is fitted with a rubber recoil pad and T/C brand fiber optic sights. Trigger reach is 13-3/4" to fit today's average size shooter. Weight is 8 pounds.

The .50 caliber barrel is 1" octagon, 26" long. The .50 caliber bore is rifled with a 1 in 48" twist to provide good accuracy with a patched round ball, or a Thompson Center .50 caliber Maxi-ball. The bore is bright and has been well maintained. We recommend our #BALL-490 Hornady pure lead .490" round ball, #OX-15-50-D Ox Yoke .015" dry patch, #MINK OIL tallow lubricant, and 70 grains of #GOEX-FFg black powder for best accuracy. If hunting big game, in thick brush, try our .50 caliber Maxi-ball. Increase the powder charge as needed, to achieve best accuracy with this heavier bullet. Recoil will increase, but will not be noticed during the hunt.

This rifle is stocked in American black walnut with a small amount of figure near the toe. The stock has been reshaped to a slimmer profile. than the factory stocks. The stock has a very few minor handling marks and small dents. The buttplate is a rubber recoil pad. The heel of the pad shows some wear from use. A single wedge key with blued steel escutcheons secures the barrel, and shows typical wear from disassembly.

Our lock view shows the color case hardened percussion lock, factory engraved by Thompson Center. This lock works smoothly, with a strong mainspring, and fly detent to allow the use of double set triggers. Notice the bright rainbow of mottled colors. The stainless steel nipple for musket cap, has standard 1/4-28 threads. The larger cap is often easier to handle in colder weather. The factory double lever double set triggers are correctly adjusted, you may cock the lock, or set the trigger, in any sequence. Turn the tiny set trigger adjustment screw, between the two triggers, inboard to reduce the set trigger release tension. Or turn it fully inboard, to disable the set trigger feature, when hunting in very cold climates, where a numb finger might release the light set trigger too early. When training youngsters, we prefer to start with the set trigger disabled.

This rifle is in used condition with a few handling marks on the black walnut stock and wedge key from disassembly. It has been fitted with a rubber recoil pad and T/C brand fiber optic front and rear sights. Our customers like these well made American guns, for their reliable service, durable reputation, accuracy, and good value. It would make a fine hunting rifle.
