This hand made Buffalo powder horn measures 12" long, as measured around the outer curve from the tip to the base. The tip is fitted with a brass on/off valve mounted in a threaded bushing, The body of the buffalo horn is a satin black in color. Buffalo horn differs from cow horn and the smooth hand scraped finish displays some of the natural grain of the horn along the body. The base is decorated with pegs that engage the base plug. The 3-1/4" diameter base plug has a aged brown patina. The base is fitted with a brass base plug threaded into a bushing. The plug can be removed to allow filling the horn. A 3/4" wide leather strap is fitted.
