This Kentucky pistol is stocked in deep red stained maple and trimmed in brass furniture with grotesque mask buttcap. The armoury bright lock and octagon-to-round barrel show a few small marks from use. The bore is bright and the stock has only a few handling marks. This well fitted and finished pistol would make a fine addition to a 18th century persona.

A tapered 9" octagon-to-round .62 caliber smoothbore, with a .620" diameter bore serves as the heart of the pistol. The barrel has a small nickel silver front sight and a raised rear sight is integral to the tang. The top flat is signed D. Herman. The Ashmore flintlock has been polished bright and hand engraved under the pan and across the tail. Use our #FLINT-ENG-5 hand knapped 5/8" English gun flints for best sparking. The barrel has a stainless steel vent liner, well positioned on the pan.

The maple stock has a deep red undertone. Viewed from above the delicate grip of the pistol is fitted with a shield thumbpiece. The grip flares out at the lock panels and closely wraps the barrel. The breech plug tang is shaped with a thumbnail finial. A tang bolt engages the triggerplate below and has been hand engraved and indexed to align with the barrel.

The bottom view reveals the well fitted and finished brass furniture on the gun. The grip buttcap with grotesque mask, triggerguard, and rod pipe have all been finished bright. The triggerguard is hand engraved with a pineapple finial and floral design on the triggerguard bow. The ramrod entry pipe has a tapered skirt with a raised thumbnail. A slightly larger diameter forward ramrod pipe secures the tapered ramrod. The ramrod has no provisions for threaded accessories and is fitted with a flared antler tip. The brass sideplate of the gun is retained by two lock bolts that pass through the stock to engage the lock on the opposite side of the gun. The sideplate is decorated with a hand engraved scrolls.

This gun will add that little extra something to your 18th century persona. It is in excellent condition with a few small handling marks on the stock. You will be delighted with this nice specimen. Order it for a ten day visual inspection. You will be delighted. Else if it does not fit you, return it in unfired condition for same-day refund.
