This powder horn is finished with a warm brown patina on the body and has a dark tip. The rounded tip has raised rings. The body of the horn has a engrailed scrimshaw border at the neck. The horn is scrimshaw engraved with a sun, panel for the owner's name, sea birds, and the verse "When This You See / Remember Me I On / Land Or At Sea". The horn measures 10-1/4" around the outside curve from the tip to the end of the wood base. The raised lip to secure a strap adds about 1/2" to the length. Small iron pegs secure the base to the horn. A turned wooden stopper is fitted and secured with a woven lanyard.
