This scrimshawed powder horn is finished with a warm brown patina on the body and tip. The tip has a paneled end with raised strap ring to secure a strap, and a engrailed border to the horn body. The horn measures 11-3/4" around the outside curve from the tip to the end of the wood base. The iron staple adds about 1/2" to the overall length. Small wood and iron pegs secure the base to the horn. A turned wooden stopper is fitted and secured with a woven lanyard. The horn is scrimshawed with a compass rose, panel, for the owner's name, and a hunter chasing a buck deer.
