This small caliber late late percussion fullstock rifle has slender shaping and is highly decorated with engraved nickel silver inlays. Stocked in very curly maple with a amber brown tone, the rifle is trimmed in nickel silver furniture, much of which has aged to a dark pewter patina. The percussion lock is mated to double lever double set triggers. The .36 caliber barrel is finished to a dark matte brown, and has a bright well maintained bore. Trigger reach is 14" to fit an average size shooter. The rifle weighs 8.8 pounds.

The .36 caliber barrel is 40-1/4" long by 13/16" straight octagon. The bore is cut rifled with eight narrow lands and wide grooves with a slow twist for patched round balls. The bore is bright, clean, and ready to shoot. The barrel is finished to a dark brown to reduce glare when sighting. The barrel is unsigned, but does have 1982 stamped on the top flat between the breech and rear sight. The front sight is a silver blade set in a brass base dovetailed 1-3/4" behind the muzzle. The small flat top rear sight is dovetailed 10" ahead of the breech. de deep notch is cut in the rear sight for quick sighting. The barrel is retained to the forearm with three pins.

The maple stock displays nice stripes of curl running its entire length. The figure and the amber brown hue combine to make this rifle very appealing to the eye. When viewed from above the slim lines of the comb come into view. The buttstock is fitted with a 19th century crescent buttplate to securely engage your upper arm/shoulder when sighting. The patchbox is shaped with piercings on the head and side panels. The patchbox is neatly hand engrave with a folk art style. All the mounting screws have the slots neatly aligned. The door is a cam over center design. Simply lift the raised lip at the end of the door until it cams oven. The forearm and forend are fitted with five hand engrave inlays, all are neatly fitted. The bottom view shows the pierced nickel silver toeplate that protects the critical toe area during loading. The nickel silver triggerguard is correctly pinned to the stock. Two paneled nickel silver ramrod pipes, along with matching entry pipe, retain the 5/16" diameter ramrod. The wooden ramrod is fitted with a brass tip with cleaning jag and hidden worm, it does not have any provisions for other threaded accessories. A nickel silver muzzlecap protects the end grain of the stock. The sideplate fills the side panel and a single domed bolt passes through to engage the lock on the opposite side. A simple shallow square cheek is shaped on the left side of the buttstock.

Ignition is provided by a percussion lock with chiseled squirrel design. This lock is patterned off a antique lock found on a Ohio halfstock rifle. The lock is finished to a dark brown with a textured finish. The lock is assemble like many antique percussion locks and does not have a half cock notch, the lock is either fully cock, or down. The drum is well supported by the lock plate and is fitted with a 1/4-28 stainless steel nipple for No. 11 percussion cap. The double lever style double set triggers fire the lock, in the set or unset position. The lock may be cocked, or the trigger set, in any sequence.
